Goal Setting Curriculum

The Goal Setting for Students® book teaches students (grades 5 -12) how to take more responsibility for their education.

“Success is not measured by money or fame, but by how
you feel about your goals and accomplishments,
and the time and effort you put into them.”

Willie Stargell, Baseball Hall of Fame

Setting and achieving goals gives students a direction and a sense of accomplishment.  Goal setting helps them define their growth and development needs.  And, they show students areas that need additional effort.  Goal setting helps successful people set their priorities.  Successful people know that it is important to help others.  Goal setting is fundamental to their success.  It helps students plan for their future success.
Goal Setting for Students is a life skills, character education book that shows students how to use the goal setting principles in the classroom to take more responsibility for their education.
Goal setting, strong character development traits (i.e. honesty, determination, fairness, etc.) and educational ownership are fundamental building blocks students need to succeed in school and in life.   When these are combined with your love and attention, your teen will have a strong foundation to build upon for their future success.

Message for Students

The book has three powerful messages to help students take educational ownership. Those messages are:

  • Parents and teachers want you to succeed, but you have to help them!
  • Teachers are educating you on science, math or English, and they are doing much more.  In collaboration with your parents, they are teaching you about life, how to get along with others, how to communicate effectively, how to take responsibility, how to handle stress, and how to believe in yourself.
  • Successful people know it is important to help others.

Benefits

The Goal Setting for Students® book will help adults talk to children (ages 9 -15) about how to define success, how to develop a plan and how to take action on their dreams.

Additional benefits for your child:

  • Additional positive family communication
  • A greater sense of purpose
  • Fewer hassles over homework
  • Increased academic achievement
  • Learn the importance of helping others
  • Improved self-esteem
  • Improved decision making skills

Why is This Book Unique?
Goal Setting for Students® is the ONLY book to specifically show students how to use these principles in school.  I had three goals when I wrote this book:

  1. To teach students how to take ownership of their education
  2. To help teachers reach their goals in the classroom
  3. To include parents in this collaborative educational experience

There are three subtle yet powerful messages to help them step up to the plate and take educational ownership. Those themes are:

  • Parents and teachers want you to succeed, but you have to help them!
  • Teachers are educating you on science, math or English, but they are doing much more. In collaboration with your parents, they are teaching you about life, how to get along with others, how to communicate effectively, how to take ownership, how to handle stress, and how to believe in yourself.

  • The importance of helping others.
